In 2008, the Victorian Smart Water Fund granted ACWA $244,000 to undertake research into the hazards of recycling and the quality controls required to ensure safe OH&S standards for personal contact.
This research work was undertaken by Ecowise Environmental, was national in scope and was backed by an expert review panel including OH&S, legionella and public health professionals from different States.
Guidelines on the use and management of recycled water are available to members, with a site-specific Risk Management Plan. The Guidelines and the summary results from the research are available here.
The full technical report will not be generally available but individual requests for it will be considered.
