ACWA would like to bring to your attention some important information regarding legislation the South Australian Government has introduced regarding installing defibrillators at commercial properties. We thank ACWA Member Ben Jolly, for bringing this matter to our attention.
Our work health and safety consultants at Eastman Lynch have contacted SafeWork SA to clarify whether these regulations apply to car wash sites.
According to SafeWork SA, the legislation applies to car wash sites with wash bays or automatic machines for customer use. So, if your car wash site has such facilities and your entire car wash site exceeds 600 square metres, you must install Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) by 1 January 2026.
We encourage you to review the legislation and ensure your car wash site complies with the requirements by the deadline.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us or speak to your ACWA WHS Helpline Specialist, Bill McIIrath, Eastman Lynch.
