Richard Davison is an inaugural inductee into the Australian Car Wash Hall of Fame.

Richard is recognised as a doyen of the Australian carwash industry and is widely sourced as a mentor and advisor to members of the car wash industry.

In 1993 Shiners Car Wash Systems Pty Ltd was formed, and two six-bay self-service car washes were developed in Frankston and Preston.

Soon after, an agreement was reached with the Jim Coleman Company for Shiners to become the exclusive Australian distributor of their products.

Ricard is an innovator and has led the market by adopting ideas and trends learnt during his many visits to the USA. Over an extended period, Richard developed a reputation for incorporating innovations at his own car wash sites, thoroughly testing and trialing them before bringing them to market.

In 2001 Richard introduced the Water Wizard Touch Free Automatic and Swipe n Clean Credit Card and Fleet Code Systems to Australia.

In 2005 Shiners was awarded ‘Diamond Distributor’ of Jim Coleman distributors worldwide, and in 2010 Shiners was the only distributor to receive a ‘Double Diamond’ award, recognising Shiners as the largest Jim Coleman distributor worldwide.

Through Richard’s dedication, Shiners has supplied and installed 220 car wash sites consisting of over 854 self-serve bays and more than 126 automatics for customers across every State and Territory of Australia and now New Zealand (as of 2108).

Leading the way again, in 2008, Richard commenced installing Express Tunnel Systems and has built a number of the decade since.

Although he is now slowing down to enjoy his life on the farm and continue his love of motor racing, Richard has not lost his passion for the car wash industry. He continues to develop and explore ideas and assist anyone in any way he can to begin or grow in the industry.
